You have to do 4 things to create office place transparency
Put your honest thoughts on the table
Have thoughtful disagreements
Abide by agreed-upon ways of getting past disagreements
Talk about failure and emotions
You can go to a restaurant and lie to your waiter the grass fed beef burger was great, when it really was a well-done hunk of rubber.
The same transparency you have in restaurants is what you need in your optometry practice/optical.
Understand workplace transparency
The same things happen time after time again in the workplace. Whether it’s Betty picking on Dion for not checking voicemails in the morning, or the doctor running late, things happen consistently that may bother us. But, we shouldn’t have to live in a bothered state.
Each employee needs to have their own principles in the office everybody agrees to live by

If you do these 3 things, you will be successful.
You need to know your goals, you need to know what you are going after
- You can’t have everything you want, but you can have your goals
You have to identify to not tolerate your problems
- Diagnose those problems to get at the root cause of them. Often the root cause is you, maybe you have weaknesses or maybe somebody else is making the mistakes. We all have strengths and weaknesses
Only when you know what your problems are can you create a design to get around those problems

The key is to work with other people where you are weak
Being successful occurs when knowing how to deal with things you don’t know about rather than what you know
Find people who disagree with you and stress test who’s right and wrong
The tragedy of mankind is individuals who have wrong opinions they are attached to
Radical transparency brings about stronger relationships because everybody knows everything…no office drama. It’s not for everybody… 1/3 struggle, the other 2/3 get to the other side. They can’t go and work at a typical organization ever again because it’s hidden, there’s politics and lack sincerity, too much behind the scenes and phony.
